Tons of Kid-friendly Things to do in Warrensville Heights, Ohio!

If entertaining kids were easy, you wouldn’t be reading this article. Navigating kid-friendly fun can be daunting, especially if you aren’t familiar with the area. This guide will help you better acquaint yourself to some local kid-friendly attractions in the Warrensville Heights neighborhood:

Parks and Outdoor Fun

The Cuyahoga Valley National Park might be located in a metro area, but once you’re there you’ll feel worlds away. The park has over 100 miles of trails to choose from, including the park’s largest trail, the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail, which visitors can ride, walk, or run. Cuyahoga also offers special programming for kids where children can explore park ecosystems, learn about park geology, and discover what it means to be a park ranger. One of these programs is Get Up, Get Out & Go!, a free outdoor recreational program for kids ages 11 to 14. In addition, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, where visitors can walk or bike the Towpath Trail one way and then climb aboard the train to enjoy a relaxing, scenic ride back, operates trips year-round.

Another notable park is the South Chagrin Reservation, which is divided by the Chagrin River. The park features an arboretum and Look About Lodge, a log cabin that is home to the Cleveland Natural Science Club. The lodge serves as an outdoor education center and runs natural history programs, art-centered experiences, overnights, and children’s workshops and programs.

If your children are fans of wildlife, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo features exhibitions of animals from all over the world and offers events and programming for kids of all ages. They offer both recurring classes and day classes where you can join on the day of your visit. Use the website’s search engine to find the perfect programs for your child’s age range.

Indoor Entertainment

If bad weather ruins your plans for outdoor activities, there’s still hope. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame offers educational programming for everyone from toddlers to adults, providing a deeper understanding of rock and roll’s impact on the world. The Children’s Museum of Cleveland has six exhibits and regularly holds fun free (or inexpensive) programs like Terrific Tuesdays, held every second Tuesday evening of the month. Visitors can enjoy free admission to the museum and explore the museum at their own pace.

The Greater Cleveland Aquarium features more than 40 tanks of all sizes that are home to thousands of underwater creatures. Visitors can discover aquatic life native to Australia, South America, the Indo-Pacific and Ohio. The aquarium offers several interactive programs that are perfect for kids of all ages, like the Aquarist for a Day program, designed to give your child a glimpse of how the aquarium cares for its creatures, and the Fish Feeding Adventure, which offers a typically unseen view from the top of the 230,000 gallon main exhibit.

Instead of scrambling around at the last minute trying to make weekend plans with your kids, scope out your options beforehand and have a backup plan in case of inclement weather. Living near Cleveland offers a ton of fun things to do with your kids, and this list certainly isn’t exhaustive.
